1. Introduction: Who this course is aimed at and why?

This course is aimed at everyone Orange or Green belt, and is a requirement for anyone aiming for a Purple belt. It provides a basic understanding of warm-up and cool-down techniques, introductory teaching concepts, and other useful information. This knowledge will help you be an active member of your club as you advance through the belts. The Jiu Jitsu Foundation regards this step as pivotal in developing the skills necessary to develop as a jitsuka and skilled practitioner in the art. Further, it should help to develop your self-confidence and other life skills. The notes gathered here are not intended to be exhaustive but rather an introduction to the concepts above. This should initiate a discussion with your club instructor and other senior grades about your future Jiu Jitsu development.
Learning should be continuous, enriching your experience at every stage. Continuously learning new things about your chosen discipline can deepen your passion and enjoyment for it. If you want to understand something really well, teach it to someone else.
Your instructor gives their time freely to support your learning and really needs your help and support for the smooth running of the club. If you notice something in your club that isn’t running smoothly, please talk to your instructor about it and offer your help. You can contribute to finding a solution.
The course is only the beginning, Once you have completed this online course you will consider and practise what you have learnt in your club.
